Catalytic Cage Build & Design with Video
Box trucks and work trucks are an extremely important part of any small business. Either a truck you own, or relaying on another small business with a truck to deliver your parts and supplies. They make the small business world go round. Even though you can replace a catalytic converter what is the biggest hurt for a small business is amount of time your truck is down. So I did some research and didn’t find very much online in the way of a catalytic converter protector so I decided to take matters into my own hands by creating a resource and solution to this ongoing problem.
First, lets talk about what truck i’m working on for this project. Its an Izuzu Box Truck. The design I made fit this truck great. You can adjust the sizing to fit your truck if you have a different brand or model.
Material List
72 feet of Rebar (or sound stock) 1/4” thick or close to that.
The rebar simply looks to be more beefy then just round stock.
Steel Plate - Roughly 1/8” Thick. Total of about 4 feet x 4 feet squared.
You can mix and match different metal you have around the shop with the round stock and the steel plate.
You will not make it impossible to steel, but you will make it a deterrent at first glance and a lot more work to steel if someone decided to take on the test to cut a bunch of steel plate and rebar.
